Description

The Harn Homestead is a popular field trip destination where students can 'Step Back in Time' to the early days of Oklahoma Territory. With six historic buildings including a Queen Anne style Victorian, a 1904 Dairy Barn, a replica 1890's cabin, a Farmhouse, and the small Shepherd home; visitors can experience a bit of what life was like at the turn of the century in the future state capitol, Oklahoma City.

This museum offers hands-on field trips for elementary and secondary students studying Oklahoma history. Docents in period attire provide students with activities appropriate to the time such as using a slate, scrubbing laundry on a washboard, grinding corn and playing with old-fashioned toys and games.

Cost is $7-$10 per student with school staff admitted free of charge. Scholarships are available. Contact Education Director David Sapper at 405-235-4058 for more information.

Harn Homestead is part of the fabric of our state’s history and who we are, and I think it’s important for children to grow up knowing that. It’s definitely a field trip that reaches the heart. Denise Fowler, Clegern Elementary
