Visit DisabledTravelers.com for world-wide accessibility information, travel aids, and adventure travel companies that cater to those with special needs.

Check out a brand new non-profit organization dedicated to easing the strain of travel for those with disabilities and their families at IFlyMAT.org. Mobility Air Transport enables passengers in wheelchairs to sit in their own chair or in oversized seats and they welcome assistance animals. Because the company prefers to fly from smaller airports, like Wiley Post, and so few passengers are on each flight, those with severe autism and other sensory integration problems may be better able to tolerate air travel. Rates (20¢ per mile, per person, one way) are comparable to most major airline coach rates. The company plans to begin flying to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean this month and will expand their range as funds allow.

While at their website, sign up for their new e-newsletter and stay up with the latest destinations offered.
