Let’s Eat Restaurant Review: Steve’s Rib
Dads should be appreciated for all they do. What better way to show your love and admiration than lavishing him with all sorts of smoked meats? Hasn’t it always been said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach? The secret is that when you lead him through the door of Steve’s Rib, you’ll benefit too.
Steve’s Rib gives you a feel for the southwest with its rustic stone and rock décor. As soon as you enter, the aroma of smoked meats envelopes you and makes your mouth water. They have a cute little space outside to eat for those who want to brave the Oklahoma breeze, but we went indoors.
My husband, Joe, and our daughter, Mandy, started our meal with a cup of queso ($4.25) that came with chunky salsa and a tray of chips. The salsa was thick and tasty and so was the queso. Be careful not to fill up on this yummy treat before your meal comes.
Mandy and I treated Joe to a big plate of smoked meat. Joe ordered the Two Meat Dinner ($10.95) and had the ribs and pulled pork. The dinner included two sides—he chose steak fries and baked beans—and thick Texas toast. The meat was very good, and the ribs had lots of meat and weren’t greasy as they can sometimes be. The portions were certainly generous.
Mandy went with the quarter-pound bacon cheeseburger ($6.25) with a stack of onion rings. She declared the burger to be yummy. Even this smaller burger is huge; I can only imagine the one-third pound option.
I chose a large chopped brisket sandwich ($5.95) that came with one side order. I had baked beans and ordered an extra order of fried okra ($1.75 ). The sandwich was mounded high with moist chopped beef. All of our meats were juicy without fat. The flavor was excellent and we had to bring some home to enjoy later. The side dishes, however, were disappointing. The fried okra was a nice golden color, but the breading was soft instead of crunchy, and the baked beans had a thick consistency as though overcooked. We prefer our baked beans a little saucier, but like with most food, this is subjective.
You won’t be leaving Steve’s hungry—we certainly didn’t. If you still have room after dinner, check out their apple or peach cobbler or fudge brownie. Most importantly, enjoy your outing.
