Spring Fashion: Color Me Happy

Anyone else use the sixty-degree high as an excuse to drag out your flip-flops? Yeah. So maybe flip-flops are officially a summer feet treat, but I like to introduce them into my spring wardrobe as soon as I get my first pedicure. I won’t embarrass myself by admitting how many I have in my oversized shoe closet, but let’s just say they run the gamut of every color known to man ranging in quality from Dollar Tree foam (quite comfy actually) to Kohl’s Daisy Fuentes brand with the rocker lookin’ metal studs to the dressy leather I-think-I-could-get-away-with-wearing-these-to-church flip flops masquerading as sandals. So let’s see what some of our mass market favorites (GAP, Target, Macy’s) are baiting our wallets with this season, shall we? I went web window shopping to find the hits and misses…

Looks I Love But My Body Hates: Empire tanks, sleeveless shirts of any kind, short shorts

Looks That Make Even Young People Look Old: Pleated shirts, big buttons, belted linen dresses, eyelet anything

Looks That The Over 30 Crowd Should Ban From Her Wardrobe:
short shorts, tight-fitting graphic tees with silly slogans (none guiltier than me and I’m 36!), skimmer jeans (especially paired with tennis shoes)

Looks So Trendy You May Be E-baying Them This Time Next Year:
Bold, geometric, ‘60s-style shirts and dresses, skinny pants, belle bottom jeans, puffy shirts

Looks Cute For Any Age:
Bermuda shorts, patchwork shorts, flowing skirts paired with a cotton T (and flip flops!)

Looks I’m Tired of But Will Probably Wear All Summer Anyway: Capri pants – three kinds of beige, white and three pair of black. On the plus side, it does only require calf-high leg-shaving.

From the looks of spring things, I’ll be saving my dough for a nice summer vacay instead.

Happy Spring, Fashionistas!
