I have vowed to keep the only Resolution I have made for this year and that is to continue to safely lose weight. Others are starting to notice the weight come off and that is encouraging in itself.
I don't profess to be a health/nutrition guru (come on look at me). I can tell you what works for me. I am a busy mom/grandmother so I have to plan meals ahead or grab something quick for myself. Here’s my plan of action.
I never skip breakfast and I usually eat the same thing for a week then change to something new the following week. My breakfast choices are a bowl of old fashioned, not instant, oatmeal, cooked with 1 percent milk, sweetened with brown sugar-splenda, a pat of butter, and a small box of raisins, and one glass 100 percent fruit juice. Or dry cereal such as, Raisin Bran, Special K strawberry or almond, and a glass of juice, and a banana. I also make ahead a breakfast casserole with eggs or eggbeaters, veggies, your choice of meat, with a piece of fruit.
My morning and evening snack choices usually consist of a handful of nuts, yogurt, granola bar, or fruit. I have found a new passion: I love the taste of the baby food fruit, berry/banana or plum/berries—and it's healthy.
I usually eat frozen dinners for lunch, Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice.
Dinner usually consists of grilled, baked or broiled fish, chicken or turkey, a small salad and a vegetable.
There are certain times that I have a sweet tooth, and I will eat a 100-calorie pack snack.
I try to drink 10 glasses of water a day. I will normally drink two glasses before I come to work. I don't drink sodas of any kind, however I do drink Crystal Light, Wyler's sugar free cranberry, or Sam's Choice sugar-free cherry limeade.
It's working for me.
