05/21/13Weathering The StormThat was my bank. The 7-11 where I buy gas. The hospital where I take my kids to see their pediatrician. The bank where I cashed a check at just after 2pm. The bowling alley where we held my daughter's birthday party. Posted at 09:54 AM | Permalink | Comments: 2 |

05/06/13OverfullThese past two years have been the most introspective years of my life. Struggling with the grieving process, much of my time was spent stalled in the anger phase. It’s not pleasant, and it’s not a fun place to live, but it’s necessary. Or at least it was for me. Posted at 10:49 AM | Permalink | Comments: 1 |

04/28/13Of Saltines and Silver LiningsSome of my fondest memories of childhood were when I was sick. It’s when I felt most mothered. I told my sister about this a while back, and she understood—when else did a kid from a big family (I’m the last of 7 kids) get individual attention? |

04/22/13Moments MatterThose few minutes after we burst out the door and pile into the car, the bickering and whining and yelling stops. These are the moments that I can take to shape their day, and I take that seriously. |

04/07/13Scary StuffI've always tried to be honest in parenting my kids. Of course, my kids used to be small. And now they are getting older, their questions are getting more complicated and therefore, my answers are also getting a bit more involved, too. |

04/01/13One ReasonWe’ve been talking a lot about summer activities around my house—due in no small part to (a) my kids hotly anticipating the end of the school year and (b) my working on the summer activities issue for the past few weeks. What do we want to do this summer? What plans do we want to make? |

03/25/13Listen To Your MotherI stepped out of my comfort zone. Waaay out of my comfort zone. And I shared a big piece of myself. That might not seem like a bit deal; after all, I blog here (and many other places) and I have for years; I’ve shared lots! But this is different. This time, I shared in person. |

03/18/13I’m Not an Iron Chef, but I Play One in My KitchenAnd as life has changed, my competitive nature has changed. Not gone away, mind you—but changed. Now, I compete at dinner. My family is none the wiser, but they are the adversaries I’m trying to best every day I bring myself to the kitchen to whip something up. |
