From the Mind of a Mom
With the holidays approaching, stress goes up. Kids start to have difficulty coping with changes in schedules, crowded places, parties and more rushing around than normal.
This week, I was shopping in a large store and witnessed a mom holding her son who looked to be about 6 years old. He was screaming his head off and kicking her violently. I thought about all the times I have been kicked, head-butted, bitten and run away from. (And that’s a typical day for our family.) As the bumps and bruises have built up over the years, I could feel sorry for myself. Instead, I walked away from that mom thanking God for reminding me that everyone has bad times, days or years. I thanked Him for reminding me of that.
Yes, I did have a little smile on my face as I walked away. OK, maybe I had to turn my head because I was giggling. But it felt good to know that I wasn’t the only mom in the world facing challenges with my children.
Our children can have a very hard time coping with changes. Try to slow down this week and enjoy each moment.
Oh yeah…don’t forget to turn you head away if you have to laugh at someone you don’t know!
