This week, my daughter noticed that a boy who had cerebral palsy could not walk. She asked me why. She and I talked about the things that this boy could do and the fact that he could not walk. After a while, she said, “Mom, I don’t care if he cannot walk. I think he’s a nice boy. I want him to be my friend.”
I am so proud that my daughter has this perspective about people. She already realizes that we are all different. She gives people an opportunity to find out who they are on the inside before judging them on the outside.
What a blessing!
