When children are out of school for holiday breaks, it's important to keep them busy. Oklahoma City features an assortment of break activities and mini camps to keep kids occupied. Take your pick from any of these activities based on the current interests of your child, or let them choose a brand new hobby!

Nov. 9 - Jan. 27

Devon Ice Rink at Myriad Gardens (301 W Reno Ave) opens for the 2018 season. $13 with skate rental, $8 without. See website for hours of operation and special events.

Nov. 10 - Dec. 24

FREE Santa's Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s (200 Bass Pro Dr & 1200 W Memorial Rd) features giveaways, crafts, activities and the chance to meet Santa. See website for a complete schedule of events.

Nov. 16 - Jan. 6

Edmond Outdoor Ice Rink opens at Mitch Park (1501 W Covell Rd, Edmond) opens for the 2017 season. $12 with skate rental, $8 without, kids (under 5), $6. See website for hours of operation and special events.

Nov. 19

FREE Chess Club for Kids at the MAC at Mitch Park (2733 Marilyn Williams Dr, Edmond) features a half hour of basic instruction and an hour of play for kids of all ages. Boards are provided. For ages 6 - 12. Preregister. 4:30 - 6 p.m.

Wheel Throwing Class at the MAC at Mitch Park (2733 Marilyn Williams Dr, Edmond) features a basic pottery class for kids ages 13 - 17. Preregister. $14. 6 - 8 p.m.

Nov. 19 & 20

Thanksgiving Holiday Art Camp at Edmond Fine Arts Institute (27 E Edwards St, Edmond) features multiple holiday themed art projects. Children will rotate between four classes with Art in Schools teachers. For kids in grades K - 5th grade. $55 per day. 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Thanksgiving Break Basketball Camp at The Station Recreation Center (700 S Broadway Ave, Moore) teaches basic techniques to help young athletes improve their basketball skills. Camp is led by Scott Hughes, Westmoore head basketball coach. For ages 7 - 14. $55. 9 a.m. - noon.

Nov. 19 - 21

Schools Out Day Camps at the Oklahoma City Zoo (2000 Remington Pl) welcomes ages 4-11 to learn more about nature and their favorite animals. Snacks provided, but campers should bring their own lunch. Members, $40 per day; nonmembers, $45. 8:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Thanksgiving Break Art Camp at The Station Recreation Center (700 S Broadway Ave, Moore). Create colorful paintings, sculptures, jewelry and more, using watercolors, paint, crayons, beads, strings and clay. For ages 6 - 12. $70. 9 a.m. - noon.

Thanksgiving Break Gizmos, Gadgets & Thangs Camp: Wacky Science at The Station Recreation Center (700 S Broadway Ave, Moore). Create and participate in experiments, make a mess and get your hands dirty all in the name of Science. For ages 7 - 14. $70. 1 - 4 p.m.

Nov. 19 - 21 & 23

Thanksgiving Break Art Camp at Artsy Rose Academy (7739 W Hefner Rd) features culinary arts, slime making, pumpkin painting, drawing, canvas and watercolor painting, clay, mixed media pieces and more. Each day features a different themed activity. Preregister. For ages 4 - 15. $45 per day. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Open Play at Unpluggits Paint & Play (575 Enterprise Dr Ste 110, Edmond) features easel painting, sketching easels, and fun with chalk and play-dough tables, puppet stage, magnet wall and other activities located in craft area, plus a fun indoor playground. 10 & under, $8. Paint & Take Crafts are sold separately. 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Nov. 19 - Jan. 4

FREE Red Earth Treefest at the Red Earth Art Center (6 Santa Fe Plaza) features Christmas trees adorned with handmade ornaments created to showcase the diverse Native cultures that make Oklahoma unique. $1 suggested donation. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Nov. 20

FREE Art Adventures at Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art (555 Elm Ave, Norman) features a reading of The Perfect Thanksgiving by Eileen Spinelli, with illustrations by Joann Aninolfo, and a hands-on art project. 10:30 a.m.

Thanksgiving Tea Party at Myriad Gardens (301 W Reno Ave) features a relaxing tea party with homemade herbal tea, snacks and festive stories. Everyone will get to create their own herbal tea blend to take home. Best suited for ages 5 - 9. Preregister. Members, $6; nonmembers, $8. 11 a.m. - noon.

Nov. 21

FREE Reading Wednesdays in the Crystal Bridge Lobby (301 W Reno Ave) features a nature-themed story time, interactive song and small craft. Best suited for ages 2-5. Walkups welcome. 10 - 11 a.m.

Nov. 21 & 22

Thanksgiving Break Family Skate Sessions at Skate Galaxy (5800 NW 36th St). $6 admission includes skate rental.  7 - 10 p.m.

Nov 21 & 23

Thanksgiving Break Day Skate Sessions at Skate Galaxy (5800 NW 36th St). $6 admission includes skate rental. 1 - 4 p.m.

Nov. 23

Black Friday Black Out Skate at Skate Galaxy (5800 NW 36th St). $12 admission includes skate rental. 7 p.m. - midnight.
