30 Day Mom Challenge Day 6

Dec 12, 2011 - 09:12 AM

30 Day Mom Challenge Day 6—Bake, make or buy them their favorite food.

“Mom, did you know that some kids don’t like broccoli!? That’s crazy!!”

My kids like food of all kinds. When I was their age, my palate was not very, well, varied; I don’t even think I ever saw broccoli until I was in high school! But these kids like foods from all around the globe, with all kind of flavor profiles. But what is their favorite?

Of course, ice cream. But I never buy ice cream. My husband is in charge of snacks, I’m the one who always forgets when I’m at the store. When he had to deploy, we had no chips in the house, no ice cream, no cookies. So I’m making sure to have some ice cream in the house and what a difference it makes! The kids’ faces actually lit up when they saw it in the freezer. Such a simple thing! But it brings so much joy.

Just reminds us that it's the little things that make the biggest impact; knowing that someone heard, really heard you, when you tell them something is powerful stuff. It's such a small way to show someone that you are thinking of them. Does ice cream equal love? Well, no. But picking some up from the store because I know that it's their favorite does.
