Inclusive OKC: Sakana Sushi

Finding businesses that are welcoming to people with disabilities are often times a trial and error for families. Thankfully, with social media at our fingertips, word of mouth between families can travel fast about who offers an accommodating and welcoming environment, taking out a lot of the stress and guesswork.

Johnnie Le, owner of Sakana Sushi in Moore, recently put a spin on things when he used social media to invite customers of all abilities and needs to visit his restaurant after reading an article regarding a group of adults with developmental disabilities who were denied service at another eatery.

“After reading that article, we were not so happy with that situation,” said Le.

He wants to offer a dining experience that welcomes anybody in the mood for sushi and smiles. In order to make sure each individual’s needs are met, Le suggests calling ahead.

“If you have any questions, please contact us. Just give us a heads up,” he said. “We promise to make (everyone) feel at home.”

Sakana Sushi Bar and Grill has been serving their customers in Moore for about two years. Enjoy an upbeat ambiance and dine on sushi or a variety of other entrees. Be sure to stop by from 3-5 p.m. Monday-Friday for happy hour specials. Reservations can be made by phone or at their website. A private dining area is also available for reservation.
