Want to Go to Bootcamp?

I returned home last week from the 20-year class reunion in Minnesota that I’ve been talking about forever. In a word, it was….disappointing. There were 91 kids in my graduating class back in 1991. I saw only about 20 of them at my reunion – many of whom I’d already seen in the recent years when visiting home. Although it was good to see those few, it was disappointing NOT seeing everyone who didn’t show up. If any of those former classmates happen to be reading this, poo on you for not coming to our reunion! Twenty years is a long time and it would have been good to catch up!

While I was in Minnesota, I did a little running. The lower temperatures were nice, but the humidity didn’t make for easy running. I ran in a 5K fun run with my sister and my mom. My mom pushed baby Lydia in the stroller – it was her first, actually, both of their first races. My mom walked the whole way and did so great – I was really proud of her. My sister and I ran a decent race, too. It really was a fun run.

My class reunion had been my “Gotta get FAB before the reunion” goal since I had the baby last year. Awesome motivation! But now I have to come up with another something to keep me motivated. Let me tell you… I think I know what it is. I am ADDICTED to boot camp! In my last blog I wrote about Sooner Adventure Boot Camp and how much I was loving it. Unfortunately, with a vacation and my big girl starting kindergarten this week, I haven’t been able to keep going this month. I’m hoping to get back to it in September.

For me, the best part about boot camp was the diversity! Every day was a different workout, a different set of exercises. One day we’d do a lot of running drills with a bunch of ab moves. The next day, it might be a kickboxing workout. For the last few years I’ve been a devoted runner. The boot camp even made that better! I took nearly a minute off my average mile pace. Mixing it up really made a huge difference in my over-all FABulousness! (Is that a word? It must be!)

So, here is the good news for YOU!

Candelon Jones, owner and coach of Sooner Adventure Boot Camp is sponsoring a giveaway though this blog. The giveaway includes a four-week women's boot-camp session at Sooner Adventure Boot Camp (a $199 value). Classes meet at SHOCK Sports Center in Norman, with indoor and outdoor activities planned. Meeting three days a week for one hour each day, your Adventure Boot Camp session lasts a total of four weeks.

Women of all ages and fitness levels benefit from friendly, professional trainers who ensure everyone works at their own level and that no one is left behind or eaten by narwhals. Boot campers will condition their core, navigate obstacle courses, run distances less than one mile, kickbox, undulate ropes, pilot through Pilates, and build muscular strength, among many other aerobic activities. You also get a beginning and ending body composition evaluation – which I found to be really great information.

All you have to do to enter is make a comment on this blog about why you need / want to attend a fitness bootcamp. We’ll randomly select the winner on August 31 and the winner will have six months to use the membership!

So, make a comment, enter now and let's get fit!

I have always wondered about bootcamp classes. Hearing you rave about it makes me want to try it out and hopefully finally lose this weight for good!

Both of my kiddos will be in school all day this year and I'll finally have some more "me time." I'd love to try the boot camp to help with my weight loss goals.

Before I got pregnant with my son I went to a bootcamp. It was fun and the results were amazing. I would love to get into a bikini next year but will have to start working at it now. If I won, I promise it would not be a waste. I love the results!

I have put on some weight within the past year due to stress and anxiety. I am so unhappy with my body, that I have not even worn a swimsuit all summer. I have also noticed that my clothes are a lot tighter than they used to be and I have really become self conscious. A boot camp would be a great way for me to jump start the weight loss that I want and need so badly. Thank you.

I have recently started on the long road of getting my body back. I have lost a little over 20 lbs and have about 50 more to go. I think this bootcamp would help me see more results!

I would like to attend the boot camp to get back into good, physical condition. I started off 50 lbs overweight and have been exercising at least 5 times a week, changed my eating habits, and have lost 15 lbs so far. This is new to me as all my life I struggled to gain weight due to being underweight and within the past 7 years I have gained too much. I love exercise and think it would be fun to participate with other people.

I could really use this. I turned the big 4-0 this year and I vowed that this was going to be the year that I get my body back...the year is half over, but I have a long way still to go. I gave birth to my 3rd and final baby boy in December 2010. I just recently under went a hysterectomy, which has left me unable to do physical exercise for a month. I would love to get back on track, once medically cleared, and I can't think of a better way to see fast, life changing results, than a fitness bootcamp. It will jump start my exercise routine and motivate to continue with my personal workouts at our local YMCA. Not to mention my hidden motivation, but my husband's family all live in the Ohio region and they have only seen my pregnant. We are headed to his hometown in December and I would really love to be able to show off my fabulous, new, unpregnant body!!!

About This Blog

Kristina PressleyKristina Pressley is a 37-year-old stay-at-home mom to daughters Brynn, 4 and Lydia, 4 months. Between her pregnancies, Kristina became an avid runner and YMCA regular, completing three half-marathons and numerous other races. Her interest in fitness started during her 12 years spent in the Air Force. Although, at that time, fitness was more of a "have to" than a "want to." At two months post-partum from her pregnancy with Lydia, Kristina started looking to get back into running shape. Follow her quest to become fit again after giving birth in July 2010. Kristina lives in Moore with her husband, Bryan, an Air Force Officer, and their two daughters.
