Driver's Ed Options for OKC Teens

Reading Time: < 1 minute

It's no secret teaching teens to drive can be a source of stress for parents. AAA Oklahoma has designed a kit of instructional materials to help parents and teens navigate driving lessons together. The "Take the Wheel" kit contains a textbook and behind-the-wheel instructional materials certified by the state of Oklahoma to prepare teen drivers for the road.

“Because the kit is approved by the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety and is a certified driver’s education program, teens who complete the course are eligible for standard driver’s ed. discounts on their auto insurance policies,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “Plus, under Oklahoma’s graduated driver licensing law, teens can drive at an earlier age.”

Created in 2000, more than 15,000 Oklahoma parents have used “Take the Wheel” to teach their teens the fundamentals of driving. The program uses the latest AAA teaching materials to take teens through the entire how-to-drive process as well as subjects such as distracted driving and the effects of alcohol on driving behavior.

Now through the end of the year, Take the Wheel has been reduced in price by 33 percent. Call Sheryl Adekoya at (918) 748-1071 or (800) 222-2582, stop by any AAA Oklahoma office or visit AAA.com/TakeTheWheel
