Easy & Fun Bird Feeder

Easy & Fun Bird Feeder

My son collected many pine cones before Christmas for decorations, so we thought a fun after-Christmas craft would be to make bird feeders. With many birds having a hard time finding food in the winter, making bird feeders provides a great food source—plus, it’s fun to bird watch together!

Supplies:

  • Pine cone
  • Peanut butter
  • Bird seed
  • Paper plate
  • Butter knife
  • String

Directions:

  • Take the pine cone and tie the string to the top.
  • Next take a large spoonful of peanut butter and put it on a paper plate.
  • Use a butter knife to put the peanut butter all over the pine cone. Get the bottom too.
  • Pour the birdseed over the pine cone or roll the pine cone into the bhttp://www.metrofamilymagazine.com/admin/pages/Publishing/index.php?cpissue=2&itm=0&mid=1334&siissue=20&view=new_article&issueid=2054ird seed.
  • Hang it outside, in a tree or on the edge of your patio.
  • Watch to see what birds come to enjoy a special treat.

You can also use your birdfeeder to help the Wildlife Department in their Winter Bird Feeder Survey this week!

Oh now this is a great project. I remember making this one when I was a kid. Although I don't recall if I actually put the cone out for the birds. Surely I did, but you never know with me. I once made a project at school where we grew seeds in a ziploc. I was supposed to take it home, but forgot about it and left it my desk. I almost grew a watermelon in it.Haha. Ya that was almost bad.
Thanks for another great post!!
